This truly gorgeous scarf is created by talented female craftswomen in India, using the traditional Kantha stitch, and salvaged, vintage silk saris, to create fabric works of art. Meaning 'patched cloth', Kantha stitch embroidery is an important textile art in eastern India, and can be traced back 500 years. It's similar to Japanese Sashiko stitching – both techniques have their roots in recycling and giving new life to old textiles. With vibrant colours and intricate stitching, each piece is unique – and the scarves are reversible, so can be used to complement lots of different outfits. It's a generous size, so can be worn as a shawl or head covering as well as a scarf – and as it's also lightweight, it's an extremely useful accessory for travelling.
