Soft and warm, these sustainable bamboo socks are super comfortable. The wide range of vibrant designs feature all sorts of wildlife, from bees and butterflies to hares and hedgehogs. There's an impressive variety of bird designs available, such as these puffins and curlews – so you may well be able to find your loved-one's favourite species. Shower Blocks Shower Gel Bars   £4.75

On average, around 12 bottles of shower gel are used per person, per year. Each of these solid shower gels, with plastic-free packaging, avoids the use of one-and-a-half single-use bottles. The bars last longer than a standard bottle of shower gel, and contain moisturisers to prevent skin from drying out. Shower Blocks are handmade in the UK, and lather up with lots of bubbles – just like bottled shower gel. There are lots of different fragrances available, including an unscented version – we love the invigorating scent of cedarwood and eucalyptus.

This sustainable soy wax candle smells divine – the warming scent of orange, cinnamon and cloves will create a cosy atmosphere on winter evenings. Urbee candles are hand-poured in the UK, and are designed to raise awareness of bees and other pollinators – with a donation from each sale going towards conservation charity Buglife. The candles are made with cotton wicks, and are paraben, paraffin and cruelty free. There are lots of lovely scents to choose from, including the EO range – inspired by plants that bees love, such as lavender, bergamot, rosemary and mint. The candle tins can be reused as storage containers after use – just clean using warm soapy water to remove any residual wax. Or the empty tins can be recycled. Using a water bottle with a built-in filter is a good idea as you don't have to worry about water quality if you're refilling your bottle when out and about. We really like this practical bottle from Water-to-Go because you can transfer filtered water into a glass – something that's not possible with many other filter bottles – so it's great for travelling, especially with children. The bottle is made from sugarcane, using the fibrous residue left over from the sugar production process – this planet-friendly material would otherwise have gone to waste. The filter is built into the lid, and lasts for around three months with daily use – saving 400 single-use plastic water bottles.
